Features
The RD300 has been designed as a very low cost disposable sensor to be fitted to fleet vehicles to monitor them for possible collision damage.
Whilst the primary target market is for hire fleets the device is also useful for large operator owned vehicle fleets where collision monitoring can make a significant contribution to operating cost reductions.
A pair of high performance piezo electric accelerometers monitor vehicle accelerations and vibrations in the horizontal plane. A micro processor analyses the signals from the sensors and continuously evaluates the probability of a collision having occurred.
When this probability exceeds a certain preset level the RD300 transmits a message on its serial data output describing the type and severity of the event.
